Given the state of my debt and distance from home, I figure that this might not be the year for expensive gifts. Still, I wanted to make you something from across the oceans - this time a bit different!
This scene is created using Gaussian Splatting - a new 3d reconstruction technique that builds worlds out of blobs. The data to make this was captured in 2019 when we took our drone for a flight on Taiharuru Beach, and thankfully there's enough here to make something that looks pretty interesting. I really like how even (and especially) when it fails, there's a dream-like quality to it.
I think I miss our family, our home, and the beach the more I work on my SoloY project - but it's all the more reason and excuse to come back soon. Memories like this one are a big part of my life, and travelling to the UK has just cemented that more.
Thanks for being an awesome mum, and I hope you have a wonderful birthday and year ahead! Love you lots. ❤️
